DESCRIPTION : (1) VIDUDABHA --- Vidudabha stands out as a different kind of character in the realm of Buddhism. Though discriminated against and treated unjustly due to his birth, his excessive vengeance led him to a devastating fall. Blinded by his evengeful rage against the Sakyas, he neglected even Lord Buddha's advice and had to pay for that.......(2) BANDHUL MALLA --- Bandhul, as his name denotes, was a Malla, a tribe like the Sakyas Now, they are more familiar as Sainthavar or Kurmi. The tribe boasts of long list of Chatrapati Shivaji and Shahuji Maharaj both brave men. belonged to the Kurmi tribe.......(3) PURNA THERA ---Two great persons contributed outstandingly to the glorious history of establishment and evolution of Buddhism in Maharashtra. The first one of these was, of course, Purna Thera who preached the pure dharma during the Lord's lifetime. Another one in the line was Emperor Asoka who erected Cetiya, Stupas, rock edicts throughout Maharashtra and thus propagated Buddhism. And, the third great man was Bodhisatva Baba Saheb Dr. Ambedkar, who blessed one million people by bringing them into Lord Buddha's refuge on 14 October 1956, exactly 2500 vears after the Lord........(4) SUDDHODANA --- Suddhodana was a virtuous king and a rich man. He had huge fields and numerous servants. Assumedly, he had to employ a thousand ploughs to cultivate his vast fields. He lived peacefully with his family. He occupied several palaces in Kapilavatthu.
